Hey! What happened to those blog posts that I wrote between the end of last year and now? I spent so much time and energy writing them and now I find that they have disappeared! What's up with that? Blog post thievery! Can you believe it?
Okay, okay. I'm just kidding and I'm a bad blogger to boot. There have been no blog posts since the end of last year and I'm due thirty lashes with a wet noodle. I guess I'll just have to take my lumps, but, on the bright side, I'm here and writing now! I have to write now because I'm so excited about something that is happening right here in our little neck of the woods in April and I'm going to be a part of it! What is it, you ask? I'll tell you. It is an Art is You art retreat! Yes! I know! It's so exciting! (Wow - check out all those exclamation marks!)
If you aren't familiar with Art is You let me enlighten you. It is an art retreat that, until now, has been held exclusively in Petaluma, California and Stamford, Connecticut, but this year is happening here in Nashvegas, too. There will be five (count 'em -- five!) whole days of art workshops with nationally recognized artists, including two of my personal favorites -- Thomas Mann and Richard Salley as well as a ton of other fun events, including something called Art Trunk on Saturday where artists will actually be selling their works not only to workshop attendees, but to the public as well. It's enough to make an artistic soul swoon! Due to limited funds, I am only taking two workshops, but I plan to be in the general area as much as I can possibly manage. After all, when else will I have an opportunity to bask in the glow of so many artistic souls all in one space?!
In the meantime, I'm working like a madwoman trying to keep the ideas flowing, refine techniques I have already learned and learn all the new techniques I can. And I'm determined that this is the year that I will become a real business person so I'm trying to stay focused on all that non-artsy not-so-much fun business stuff, too. (Wish me luck on that one.) What that means is that I'm on the lookout for cool festivals where I can hawk my wares; I'm trying to teach a few classes here and there; and considering how else I can spread the artistic love. It's enough to make your head spin, isn't it? But, as I said, I'm determined.
So what have you been up to?
Glad to see the new post!! Sounds like Nashville will be a happening place next month.
